Lucy grew up in New Iberia, Louisiana; she moved to New Orleans in 2001 to attend Tulane University and has called New Orleans home ever since. She decided to attend law school at Loyola New Orleans after teaching in New Orleans public schools and working in city government. While in law school, she participated in the family law clinic, representing clients while in law school.
She is admitted to practice law in all Louisiana state courts and the Eastern District of Louisiana. She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the New Orleans Bar Association.
